“I enjoy volunteering for the American Red Cross. I feel that I can
help people by volunteering and make a difference. I like the
feeling that I can help people.”

“The Red Cross comes to the assistance of people in the time of
disaster. The disaster may be a flood, a tornado or even a house
fire, which many affect only one family. The help may be food,
shelter or clothing, and there are many more ways the Red Cross can
be of help. I enjoy being of service to a very worthy organization.”
–Mary C. Friese,
Blood Services volunteer

“I absolutely love volunteering for the American Red Cross. I have
met many people who have touched my life as well as others. I enjoy
volunteering for the Red Cross because it makes me feel better about
myself knowing that I am helping people to the best of my ability.
Working for the Red Cross has helped me to become a better person.
Seeing the smiles on people’s faces when I help them truly touches
my heart!”
–Leigh Anne Icaza, Junior Red Cross member

there, and we have a lot of fun.”

“As a Christian I was raised to believe ‘I am to help my neighbor as
I would like to be helped if I had a natural or manmade disaster
strike my family.’ The American Red Cross is there to fulfill this
mission to people. My major reason to volunteer is that I thoroughly
enjoy seeing the donors on a regular basis. They make my day, and
all are pleasant to be around!”

“I have only been in the Jr. American Red Cross for a short time, but have been so involved that I feel
like I
have been with them for years. I was involved in the Christmas Toys
for Tots Drive, which was loads of fun. Right now I’m involved in
a raffle for the Heroes campaign and raising money for AEDs.
I really enjoy volunteering because I feel like I can do so much for the community.”
–Kenny DeCoursey, Junior Red Cross member

“The American Red Cross is important to me
because it is one of the last surviving social service agencies dedicated to the wellbeing of others in our great country. I feel
privileged to be a part of the hard work and dedication that the Red Cross shows to each member of our community and
country. I would like to thank the Red Cross for
allowing me to be apart of it.”
–Gretchen
Weber, Armed Forces Emergency Services volunteer

“I enjoy volunteering for the American Red Cross because the group
we work with has such a good time with everything we do. Plus, the
Red Cross is a wonderful worthwhile organization that helps rebuild
lives, families, cities and countries.”

president

“Volunteering is my way of continuing
education. I have never been on any project that I have not learned
more than the group. I would encourage everyone to volunteer. It
will keep you growing and learning. As I stated when I wrote for the
educator of the year award, work is honorable and that if, at the
same time, we could be of assistance to our community and others who
need help, so much the better.”
–Marge Engleman,

“I’ve really enjoyed being in the Red Cross because I have felt like
I’ve made a difference. Bringing presents to the less fortunate
children during Christmas time, volunteering to wrap presents at the
mall and helping with the terrorist drills are just a few of the
things we’ve done this year to help make a difference. I feel
honored to be a part of the Junior American Red Cross. It has
really been a memorable experience.”
–Sarah Wessel, Junior Red Cross secretary

“I really enjoy working for the Junior Red Cross. I love helping
others, which is why I joined the Junior Red Cross. We help in the
community and have fun while we’re doing this."

“The Red Cross helps a person when they are in need,
whether that be in a time of disaster one way or another. They are
always there to help you. It makes me feel good to know I have
helped someone. I guess my dedication to the blood program stems
back to my childhood. My mother was very dedicated to donating
blood, and I always have too. This has always been something my
whole family has done and will continue to do.”
–Carolyn Robinson, Blood Services volunteer |
|

“I like to volunteer because it gives me a chance to be involved
with the community. The Junior Red Cross is a fun way to do this. I
find it easier to have fun doing volunteer work with kids my age,
and that is exactly what Junior Red Cross is about.”
–Sarah Terry, Junior Red Cross member

“Volunteering was a way for me to help out
other military families. I feel like I am able to convey a
compassion and understanding to these families because I’m in the
same situation. If I let them know I have loved ones that are gone
too they totally relax, and it seems to reassure them that I will do
my best to help. This is all about caring for people, and some of
the cases really touch you.”
–La Donna Mayfield, Armed Forces Emergency Services
volunteer

“I volunteer because there are those who
would say I am too old to put on my military uniform(s) again to
help defend my country in times of war now. So by volunteering to
perform Armed Forces Emergency Services duties, I can serve those
who are currently defending us, and in turn help their loved ones at
home.”
–Gerald Martin, Armed
Forces Emergency Services
volunteer

“Volunteering is not something I do for
myself, it is something I do to help others. Personal gain has
nothing to do with spending countless hours working hard to raise
money or cleaning up after a disaster. However, volunteering is
to reassure the values instilled into us by nature, to help one
another. Being the victim is a never easy, but with the help of so
many volunteers it makes it a little more manageable.”
