Disaster Volunteers

Every day the American Red Cross works within our communities to provide relief to people who have suffered a disaster, and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Our vital work is made possible by over one million volunteers nationwide. We depend on volunteers, who constitute 97 percent of our total work force, to carry on our humanitarian work. Red Cross “everyday heroes” come from all walks of life and  have something special to offer…their time and compassion.

Congratulations to Laurie Peterson, Margie Cash and Teresa Neeley on their reassignment as supervisor!
Laurie Peters was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.  The Chapter nominated Laurie for all the great service she does an Individual Client Caseworker and great supporter of the chapter.  Pictured left to right are Becky Allen, Coordinator of Disaster Volunteers, Laurie Peters, and Cheryl Klueppel, Executive Director.
Congratulations to Steve Stacy for his reassignment as Manager in Disaster Mental Health.

The United Way of Cape Girardeau was no fool when it recognized Bev and Tom Metheny as volunteers at their annual luncheon on April 1, 2008.  Bev and Tom are pictured with Cheryl Klueppel, Executive Director.
