| Disaster Volunteers
Every day the American Red Cross works within our
communities to provide relief to people who have suffered a disaster, and
help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Our vital
work is made possible by over one million volunteers nationwide. We depend
on volunteers, who constitute 97 percent of our total work force, to carry
on our humanitarian work. Red Cross “everyday heroes” come from all walks
of life and have something special to offer…their time and
compassion.
